At Proviron, our sustainable and socially responsible policy is reflected in our year-end campaign. By annual tradition, we donate the budget for year-end gifts to charity.
And this year, we’re taking it a step further. We have not 1 but 3 initiatives to support sustainable projects for charity.
For our 3 sustainable initiatives this year, we chose Koninklijk Werk IBIS located in Bredene. (at 2km of our plant in Ostend, Belgium) The institution was founded in 1906 to take care of children of deceased sailors. Today, this organization has grown to provide young people with a safe living environment at a boarding school, as well as a solid education with appropriate support.
In the coming years, IBIS will enhance their services even more in depth and better prepare children to enter society independently. To do so, they must also invest in the future of their infrastructure and operating resources.
We selected 3 initiatives that IBIS focuses on in its investment plans. Each one of them projects where we as Proviron give an extra push so that sustainable options become financially feasible.
Beyond school hours, IBIS also provides care for children. During weekends and vacations, children can stay at IBIS in a “non-pedagogical school environment. The children reside in a separate building, which should provide them with a “weekend feeling.” Additionally, they can also participate in various activities such as vacation camps and outings. IBIS utilizes its own vehicles to get the children to their locations. Currently, one of the vans is being replaced with an electric one.
The pupils at IBIS often need extra guidance and support. Since its foundation, IBIS has had its own infrastructure to better guide and support these vulnerable children. In order to offer this safe harbor, there is a need for decent housing. The maintenance requires sustainable renovations. Not only must the outer shell of the building (windows, roof, …) be addressed because of the stricter standards. The interior also needs a facelift.
Growing children need solid structure in order to explore their boundaries. A safe environment, where they can trust and unwind, is found in the green areas on the school premises. Here, they can recharge through their connection with nature. IBIS invests not only from an ecological standpoint to offset as much CO2 as possible with green zones but also for the children. A green playground serves as their safe haven, teaching them respect.
With the entire proviron team, we wish everyone a sustainable 2024. Shake the tree with us and let us grow in our sustainable projects.
